OWO Meaning: What It Stands For and What It Involves

Why you keep seeing it

Escort listings are written in shorthand because the alternative is a page of explicit prose that neither party wants to write or read. OWO sits alongside GFE, PSE, CIM and a dozen others as a compact way of saying what is and is not on offer without spelling it out.

It shows up so often that it has leaked well beyond escorting. Plenty of people arrive at this term from a dating app or a message thread with no idea what it means, which is fair enough, because nobody explains it anywhere.

OWO on a dating app is usually something else

If you have seen OWO somewhere that has nothing to do with paid bookings, check the context before assuming. Online, OwO is also a piece of internet slang: a face made of letters, used the way a shrug or a wink is used. It has no sexual meaning at all in that context and long predates its use on listings.

The two live in completely separate worlds and are only spelled the same. On an escort profile it means oral without a condom. In a Discord message it almost certainly does not.

What it does and does not tell you

OWO tells you one thing: that oral is offered uncovered. It says nothing about how the encounter finishes, which is a separate set of terms entirely:

• CIM: finishing in the mouth. A different act, listed separately, and frequently not offered even where OWO is.
• COB: finishing on the body.
• CIF: finishing on the face.
• Swallow: exactly what it says, and the least commonly offered of the group.

Seeing OWO on a listing and assuming the rest follow is the single most common misreading of these acronyms. They are itemised separately because they are decided separately.

What it costs

OWO is usually an extra rather than part of the hourly rate. In London it typically runs £30 to £50 on top, and the profiles on this site list their own extras with prices so there is nothing to negotiate at the door.

If a listing shows OWO in her services but no price against it, it is worth confirming on the call rather than assuming it is included.

Worth being honest about the risk

Uncovered oral carries a genuinely higher risk of transmitting several sexually transmitted infections than covered oral does. Herpes, gonorrhoea and syphilis can all pass this way, and none of them require anything beyond oral contact.

That is not a reason nobody offers it, and it is not our place to tell you what to book. It is a reason to know what you are choosing rather than treating it as a free upgrade. Regular testing is standard practice on both sides of this industry for exactly that reason, and the NHS provides it free and without judgement.
