DATY Meaning on an Escort Listing

DATY means dining at the Y. It is oral sex performed on a woman, and it is one of the older pieces of listing shorthand still in regular use.

Where the phrase comes from

The Y is the shape of the body, seen from above. Dining at the Y is a euphemism that predates the internet by a long way and reached escort listings through American message boards in the nineties, which is why it survives here and almost nowhere else in British English.

Nobody says it out loud. It exists to be written.

Why it appears at all

Because listings itemise what is included, and this is one of the lines. Most terminology on a listing describes what she offers you. DATY is one of the few that describes what you do, which is why it sits slightly awkwardly among the rest.

Its opposite number is OWO, and the two are often listed together.

What it does and does not tell you

It tells you it is welcome rather than unwelcome. It does not tell you it is expected, and it is not a requirement of the booking.

A listing that does not mention it is not refusing it. Most simply do not itemise to that level, and it is a normal thing to raise when you arrange the booking rather than something that needs the word.

  • OWO: oral without a condom, the other direction.
  • DFK: deep french kissing, and usually listed alongside.
  • GFE: the girlfriend experience, which normally includes both as a matter of course.
  • 69: both at once, listed separately because it is agreed separately. Browse the 69 listings.

Hygiene, briefly

Worth one line because it is the only practical thing attached to the term. Shower first. It is the whole etiquette, it applies in both directions, and an incall will have a shower ready for exactly this reason.
